........................................................................................... NRH $5,000 Oakland Futurity 2013 ...........................................................................................
.......................................................................................... Vee Eight's Six Shot Revolver | 6 years | #007..........................................................................................
.............................................................................Ridden by Morgan Letcher, representing Vee Eight Performance Horses....................................................................

Morgan tried her very best to avoid conversations with people lengthier than two or three sentences, but her goals fell short, twisting the threatening knots in her stomach even tighter. To say that she was a shy, nervous girl would be a severe understatement from anyone's lips. She was withdrawn, and always had been. That was her step-father's fault. She knew she had cliche problems that were so common these days that they seemed to be run-of-the-mill issues, but despite her introverted personality, she was a tough little cookie.

The reining Futurity held by the National Reining Horse society seemed to be a great way to start off her career with Ace, her brand new love. Morgan had been riding all her life, as well as competing, but this was her first year going solo. Stepping out of her mother's shadow was one of the hardest, best things Morgan ever did in her life. Now, people were finally starting to recognize her as her own, individual self, not her mother's daughter.

Back at the trailer, Morgan got to work preparing Ace. The blue-toned black mare was in a content mood, she had everything she wanted; hay in front of her, sun on her back and a brush on her skin. Her blue eyes twinkled today, which was a good sign indeed. It meant she wasn't going to be grumpy and have on of her little 3-year-old-child fits. When the grooming was complete, Morgan brought out her beloved tack, gently placing the leopard print saddle pad on Ace's back and smoothed it out before placing the Reining saddle on top. The saddle smelt of leather, a smell all too inviting to Morgan. She fastened the girth absent-mindedly, leaving it two holes looser than what it should be until it was time to warm up. The skid boots hanging on her silver stirrups shone bright in the sun, clean as a whistle.

Once the bridle was on and the reins adjusted, Morgan walked calmly to the arena. She felt much more comfortable with Ace by her side; the mare was like her rock that held her to the earth. As she walked, she received quite a few approving nods and smiles from the people gathered at Shining Spark Ranch for the event. Morgan's spirits were immediately lifted and she could see this being a wonderful day.

My first ever competition entry. :aww: I feel as though I'm really proud with this one, I love the way that dirt turned out.
There will be two training images fro this show to come, so keep an eye out for those!
