Ascendancy Stables Dressage Specialty
Airendale Park's Alejandro | 5 years
Ridden by Damone Salvino, representing Airendale Park
Entered in the Hate Ecole

Haute Ecole was, and always had been Ale's main discipline, and it was one he performed very well to. Damone suspected he got it from his father's build, being a more solid stallion than most Obertaurers, and it was a trait that everyone saw growing in Alejandro. Afterall, the stallion was only 5; he had a number of years left to grow, and he seemed to be getting thicker and thicker as the months went by. Ever since the black horse came to the stable, there had been an incredible amount of change in his performance, and his personality. He was beginning to calm down, and less things phased him. He started to move with more confidence and precision, making him a much strong athlete. Damone worked with him 5 days a week, every single week, and he was so proud to see this beautiful boy progress under his hand.

The threatening storm clouds rolled closer and closer with every minute passing, bothering quite a number of horses, who each in turn grew more and more restless. It effected performances, leading to effected scores, so Damone just hoped and prayed that Ale would remain calm over the day's progression. Although the stallion was maturing, and his fears lessening, he was still a bit of a spook, so any unpredictable noises could set him right off into a frenzy. He had been doing extremely well so far, and the thunder during their first warmup session only received a couple of ear flicks from the Obertaurer. Hopefully it would stay that way.

When the Haute Ecole class started, Damone went over his tack thoroughly, before doing up his girth one hole-space tighter, and mounting up again. He guided Ale over to the warm up ring, and got stuck into it one more final time. Watching the two go through their usual warm-up was definitely a sight to see. A dressage horse, out through a reining course. Damone had him doing the standard reining pattern 5A, as he said it got the stallion responding much better. Two large, fast circles to the left, one small slow circle to the left, hesitate. Two spins to the left, hesitate. Two large, fast circles to the right, one small slow circle to the right, hesitate. Two spins to the right, hesitate. Left lead circling around the top end of the arena without closing the circle, run down, sliding stop. Rollback to the rail, right lead back around the top of the arena without closing the circle, run down, sliding stop. Rollback to the rail, left lead around the top again without closing the circle, run down, sliding stop, back up.

Damone put him through this routine once, after getting his horse's wind up, and half-passing at the canter down the left side of the arena. Once he was good and proper warmed up, they walked calmly out of the arena. This was going to be the class Damone KNEW they could do well...provided nothing went wrong. The storm rolled on as the pair entered the arena. The walked with purpose to the middle of the arena, thunder sounding in the background. Damone saluted, and their dark dance began.
